काठमाडौं ।
Humanoid robots, electric vehicles and charging technologies are set to be among the major attractions at the 18th NADA Auto Show as Nepal’s electric mobility market continues to expand rapidly.
Nepal has imported around 63,000 electric vehicles so far. Around 2,000 charging points have also been established across the country, largely through efforts by private vehicle importers in coordination with the Nepal Electricity Authority.
More than 80 percent of Nepal’s EV imports come from China, while most of the remaining vehicles are imported from India.
The upcoming NADA Auto Show will bring electric vehicles and charging infrastructure under the same roof. Brands including BYD, Leapmotor, Geely, MG and Wuling will showcase their electric vehicles at the exhibition.
The two-wheeler segment will feature electric motorcycles from Revolt as well as Yatri, whose motorcycles are designed and assembled in Nepal.
Charging infrastructure companies will also have a significant presence at the show. GI Charger, the official charging partner of the exhibition, along with Exicom, ZEVPOINT and Aircharge, will display AC and DC charging systems.
“Electric vehicles arrived in Nepal faster than the charging infrastructure did,” said NADA President Surendra Kumar Upreti. He said the exhibition would provide an opportunity to bring vehicle manufacturers, charging companies and investors together to discuss the challenges and opportunities in Nepal’s growing EV market.
The exhibition comes at a time when Nepal’s EV taxation system has also undergone a major change. The government has shifted from a tax system based on the motor’s kilowatt capacity toward a value-based Clean Infrastructure Investment Levy.
The change is expected to have an impact on EV prices and the overall market, making taxation and infrastructure important topics of discussion during the exhibition.
The 18th NADA Auto Show is expected to provide visitors with an opportunity to explore the latest electric vehicles, charging technologies and emerging automotive technologies, including humanoid robots.
