WorldLink launches Beat The Speed Season 3 to discover Nepal’s fastest bowling talent

WorldLink Communications Limited has officially announced the launch of Beat The Speed – Season 3, its nationwide talent hunt campaign aimed at discovering Nepal’s fastest emerging pace bowlers. Now in its third edition, the initiative continues to strengthen grassroots cricket by providing young athletes a platform to showcase raw speed, skill, and potential.

As per the company claims, building on the success of previous seasons, Beat The Speed has already demonstrated its impact on Nepal’s cricketing landscape. Last season’s winner, Hikmat Mahara, not only secured a cash prize of NPR 100,000 and a three-month training opportunity at Just Cricket Academy, Bangalore, but also went on to be selected as an iconic player by SudurPaschim Royals. Mahara further made headlines by claiming his maiden wicket in his debut match in the Nepal Premier League Season 2.

Similarly, Kiran Chand was recognized as a promising talent by judges Gyanendra Malla and Kalam Ali. Chand received NPR 50,000 along with a fully sponsored three-month training at Just Cricket Academy, and was later drafted into the development squad of Kathmandu Gorkhas team.

Nationwide Tour Across 23 Cities

Season 3 officially kicked off from Janakpur on Baisakh 4, marking the beginning of a nationwide journey covering 23 cities across Nepal. The campaign schedule includes:

  • Baisakh 4 – Janakpur
  • Baisakh 5 – Lahan & Rajbiraj
  • Baisakh 6 – Biratnagar
  • Baisakh 7 – Damak
  • Baisakh 8 – Itahari
  • Baisakh 10 – Malangawa & Gaur
  • Baisakh 11 – Simara & Birgunj
  • Baisakh 12 – Hetauda & Chitwan
  • Baisakh 13 – Butwal
  • Baisakh 14 – Bhairahawa
  • Baisakh 15 – Lamahi & Ghorahi
  • Baisakh 16 – Nepalgunj
  • Baisakh 17 – Surkhet
  • Baisakh 19 – Dhangadhi
  • Baisakh 20 – Mahendranagar
  • Baisakh 22 – Baitadi (first-time inclusion)
  • Baisakh 24 – Pokhara
  • Baisakh 26 – Kathmandu

Following the preliminary rounds, the top 10 fastest bowlers will qualify for the grand finale in Kathmandu.

Andrew Leonard Joins Season 3

Adding further excitement, renowned cricket commentator Andrew Leonard will be part of the campaign. According to WorldLink’s Chief Marketing Officer Tenzin Choegyal, Leonard will visit select cities during the preliminary rounds and will also host the grand finale in Kathmandu.

Judging Panel & Rewards

This year’s competition will once again be judged by experienced cricket figures Gyanendra Malla and Kalam Ali.

Winners will receive:

  • Winner: NPR 100,000
  • 1st Runner-Up: NPR 50,000
  • 2nd Runner-Up: NPR 25,000

In addition, both the winner and the judges’ choice for promising talent will earn a fully sponsored three-month training program at Just Cricket Academy, Bangalore, India, funded by WorldLink.
