Nepal–Korea Tech Collaboration Evening

On Friday evening, the Embassy of Nepal in Seoul, in collaboration with the Nepal Association for Software and IT Services Companies (NAS-IT), hosted a high-level networking event entitled “Strengthening Nepal–Korea Connection: Collaborating for a Digital Future.”

The event brought together leading tech companies, investment firms, and digital innovators from South Korea and Nepal to explore strategic partnerships in cloud computing, digital transformation, innovation, and cross-border collaboration.

During the event, Anjani Phuyal, CEO of Genese Solution and Top AWS Ambassador for the UK & Ireland, delivered a keynote presentation showcasing Nepal’s emergence as a dynamic tech hub. Highlighting the nation’s growing digital economy, Mr. Phuyal emphasized Nepal’s strong fundamentals including a $800 million IT export sector, a young, digital-first workforce, rapid cloud adoption, and pro-investment policies such as 100% FDI in the IT sector and up to 10-year tax holidays in Special Economic Zones (SEZs)

Mr. Phuyal stated : “Leading Korean companies and key representatives from Nepal’s digital economy engaged in meaningful discussions on cross-border innovation, investment opportunities, and building a resilient, cloud-powered future. This collaboration marks an important step toward a stronger Nepal–Korea technology partnership.”

NAS-IT also presented Nepal’s evolving IT ecosystem, highlighting that Nepal now has:
● Over 2,000 IT companies and 70,000+ skilled professionals operating internationally
● Nepal’s position as a rising outsourcing hub for Korea, Japan, and Vietnam
● Vibrant startup activity with 500+ startups and 50+ fintech companies, supported by an improving investment landscape, and
● Nepal’s vision to become a major tech hub in South Asia by 2035

The event promoted dialogue around joint ventures in AI, Cloud, HealthTech, and Cybersecurity, talent exchanges with dual-language certifications, collaborative R&D initiatives, and the development of Green Data Centers powered by Nepal’s renewable energy.

As part of ongoing efforts to deepen Nepal–Korea collaboration, NAS-IT emphasized the vital role of the Nepali diaspora in Korea for knowledge exchange, market expansion, and future tech entrepreneurship.
