mBank and NMC-COOP enter strategic partnership to advance digital financial services

mBank Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a leading digital financial services provider in Nepal, and NMC Multipurpose Co-operative Ltd. (NMC-COOP) have entered into a strategic partnership to deliver integrated digital banking, payments and lending services through a single platform.

The agreement was signed on Jestha 29 (Friday), with the services officially coming into operation from Shrawan 7 (Thursday). NMC-COOP, which serves more than 150,000 members through 57 service centers, will now offer its members a broader range of digital financial services through mBank’s platform.

Under the partnership, NMC-COOP members will be able to access mobile banking, QR payments, fund transfers, utility payments, digital payments and KYM updates, among other services, through a single mobile application.

As per the companies, the partnership also introduces a significant focus on digital lending. In phases, members will be able to access services such as loans against fixed deposits and periodic accounts, loan repayment, loan statements and new loan applications through the mobile platform.

The digital process is expected to reduce the need for branch visits by enabling members to submit required documents and track loan applications digitally.

Commenting on the partnership, Laxmi Prasad Upreti, CEO of NMC Multipurpose Co-operative Ltd. and recently elected Chairman of the National Cooperative Bank Limited, said that technology-driven service expansion is essential for the sustainable development of the cooperative sector and expressed confidence that the partnership would provide members with secure, convenient and modern financial services.
