Communications and Information Technology Minister Sharma assumes office

Newly appointed Minister of Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma assumed her office this evening.

Prior to this, Sharma held the responsibility of the same Ministry in the previous government led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

Earlier, she has served as Minister of General Administration. Sharma was elected a member of the House of Representatives from Dang constituency No. 2 in the 2079 general elections. She has also served as member of the Constituent Assembly in 2070 and a member of the House of Representatives in 2074.

Born in Ward No. 18 Masina, Ghorahi sub-metropolitan city of Dang is currently a member of the Standing Committee of CPN (Maoist Centre). She served as the whip of the parliamentary party in 2074. Minister Sharma holds a master’s degree in sociology.

She is the only woman to be elected through the first-past-the-post system representing the Maoist Center to the House of Representatives. RSS
