Disaster related hot line number ‘1234’ in operation in all districts

काठमाडौं ।

The Home Ministry has launched disaster hotline number 1234 in all 77 districts in order to make disaster related incident, complaints, information and rescue service faster, easier and more effective.

As per the press release issued by the Ministry, the toll free number 1149, which was previously operated from the centre, has been converted to 1234 and brought into operation.

An arrangement has been made where calls made to 1234 from Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts of Kathmandu Valley would be addressed by National Emergency Operation Centre, Singha Durbar, while calls made from other 74 districts would be automatically sent to district emergency operation centre of the concerned district.

According to the Ministry, it is expected that rescue, cooperation and service delivery would be more effective as citizens could now directly contact at their own district operation centre for disaster related information, problems, complaints and suggestions.

The first cabinet meeting of the incumbent government had adopted a policy of making civil service result-oriented, accountable and effective. A system has been implemented to operate emergency operation centre in all districts round the clock in accordance with the policy.

The Home Ministry has urged the citizens to follow the official information and early information issued by the government during disaster hour and to make call at 1234 if needed. RSS
