Toyota Motor Corp. said Thursday its global production in November declined 5.5 percent to 821,723 units from a year earlier, marking the first drop in six months.
Toyota’s overseas production fell 3.4 percent to 563,546 vehicles, while domestic production dropped 9.7 percent to 258,177 units, the world’s largest automaker by volume said.
Output in the United States climbed 9.0 percent to 107,953 units on strong demand for hybrid vehicles, despite higher tariffs imposed by the U.S. administration.
Meanwhile, worldwide sales decreased 2.2 percent to 900,011 vehicles, the first decline in 11 months, the carmaker said.
The company’s overseas sales dropped 2.6 percent to 769,789 vehicles, while sales in Japan fell 0.2 percent to 130,222 units. Xinhua
