Nepali Robotics team is going participate in the 2024 FIRST Global Challenge (FGC), one of the world’s largest and most prestigious robotics competitions. As per The Robotics Association of Nepal (RAN), team Nepal is likely to compete against 190 cpontries in that global arena.
This event, often likened to an Olympic-style competition for robotics, will be held in Athens, Greece from September 26 to September 29, 2024.
Theme for the 2024 FGC is “Feeding the Future” : Sustainable food production is one of the defining challenges of the 21st century.
This year’s theme challenges FIRST Global teams of students from around the world to learn about and address the obstacles and opportunities to provide the global population with equitable, safe, nutritious, and environmentally responsible food.
Components of the season will highlight the need to simultaneously improve economic, social, and environmental impacts in order to create a truly sustainable food system.
FIRST Global is a U.S.-based not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering innovation and leadership in science and technology among young people worldwide.
Its mission is to encourage global cooperation, address critical issues, and enhance the quality of life through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education.
FIRST Global also works to promote greater investment in STEM education and support for the next generation of innovators. About Team Nepal: Under this new partnership with FIRST Global, RAN will assemble a talented national team consisting of five youths, all under 18 years of age.
These students, selected through a rigorous process, are drawn from high schools and schools across Nepal and possess significant expertise in robotics. Over the next 2-3 months, the team will work intensively at RAN to design and build a competitive robot for the FGC.
