In a bid to make it easier for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to sell their product to national and international customers, the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has signed an agreement with Nepal’s Leading Online Marketplace, Daraz.
The agreement was signed at a special ceremony held at the FNCCI Secretariat by FNCCI President Shekar Golcha and Daraz Managing Director Lino Ahlering.
This agreement is a collaborative effort to integrate Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) associated with FNCCI on Daraz. SMEs are an important part of Nepal’s economy and they’re the ones who’ve been heavily affected by the COVID pandemic. And as such the federation has placed special emphasis on its revival. Under this agreement, new SMEs registered through this program will not have to pay any fees for one year from January 2022 to December 2022 and will receive better promotions, visibility along with other added benefits. Daraz will also provide the right education and skills to SMEs to grow their online business.
Since the COVID-19 outbreak, Daraz has launched different seller focused initiatives designed specially to help SMEs recover from the economic impact of the pandemic. The agreement between Daraz and FNCCI is yet another initiative that seeks to bring together sellers and customers from all corners of Nepal; at the same time, accelerating digitization and adoption of e-commerce in Nepal. At present, Daraz is offering services to more than 12,000 sellers from Kathmandu, Pokhara, Biratnagar, Bharatpur, Birgunj, Janakpur, Butwal, Dhangadhi and Birtamode. These sellers are selling their goods and services to more than 47 cities throughout Nepal.
Addressing the MoU signing ceremony, FNCCI President Golchha said that this cooperation with Daraz is a milestone in the revival of SMEs throughout Nepal. With the growing popularity of Daraz in Southeast Asia, the federation has launched this initiative to enable SMEs to offer their products and services to local and foreign customers. Chairman Golchha also urged the SMEs to take full advantage of this opportunity.
